I had a revelation the other day: not everyone is like me. There are people who are content going through life without the need to bring something new into the world. I think most people are like this, and I envy them. They are more likely to be content with everyday life than I am.

For the rest of us – the small portion of the population that is driven by an incessant need to create – we have to go through life with this nagging feeling of something lingering beneath the surface that needs to come to life. And we have to balance this need with the needs of the everyday. We have to manage our time, to find the appropriate outlets for our expression. But it’s much more than that.
