In the fall, you get a little reflective. A little mellow, a little pull-yourself-up-next-to-the-fire. I’ve been in that kind of mood lately, filling my headphones with music that makes me want to throw on a hooded sweatshirt, drink some tea, and read a good book.
Nothing says fall like Frightened Rabbit. “State Hospital” off of their new EP.
A little folksy, a little bluesy, a little Michael Kiwanuka, “Tell Me a Tale.” (HT @DaveSandell)
Because everyone needs something a little more upbeat (and maybe a little synthy), try “Lose My Head” by Body Language.
Sea Wolf – “Old Friend.” (HT to @AirDisa.) Listen to this while looking through old photo albums. (People still have those, right?)
Been obsessed with this slow version of “House of the Rising Sun” by Nina Simone for weeks. Also, been obsessed with Nina Simone for weeks. Sultry, sexy. Like chemistry in music form.
And lastly, I have to include this track from fun. because Miles is obsessed with it. He especially loves the “Whoa-O” sing-along parts. A catchy pop song if there ever was one.
What’s been rocking your headphones lately?
