And… we’re back.
Just like that, TEM has a new, cleaner redesign. I was tired of looking at all of the clutter. In this new design, the content takes precedence. All else gets relegated to the bottom. You like?
This redesign/relaunch comes at an interesting time in life for me. Not only has TEM been around for over three years now, but 2012 has seen many changes for the Gardners:
- We bought a house. That happened.
- I changed jobs. I’m sad to say that I’m no longer working with Edelman. I had some great times there, and learned a ton, but it was time to move on to a new challenge – one that also provides a little more flexibility for my growing family. That challenge has come in the form of Digital Intent, a small consultancy here in Chicago that focuses on building startup companies and other excellent digital products. I’m now their go-to marketing and engagement guy. It’s been just a few weeks, and I’m already learning a ton and working with some great clients.
- Speaking of my growing family, did you know I was having another baby? Of course you did. What you probably didn’t know was that it is happening… any day now. Caroline is due a week from today. 7 days. This is happening, people.
There’s a gaming concept that I feel is somewhat apropos to my life right now. When you take on a variety of new challenges and quests, face new enemies and learn new skills, it’s called “leveling up.” You either rise to meet the challenge, or you fail. Game over. Reset. Call in a lifeline.
Here’s hoping that this year sees the Gardners level up to meet the challenge. We need it.
With the new TEM now in place, expect to hear more about that. And expect a renewed energy from me towards writing, photography, finding great Chicago gems, and other fun content.
SO much more good stuff to come. Thanks for sticking around.

Love the site’s new look! And I’m happy about all of your great life updates – couldn’t happen to a better guy.
Thanks, friend. It’s a lot. But all good stuff.
And best of luck at your new gig as well. I know you’re killing it already.
oh man. You’re gonna need probably two levels up at least to do all that stuff AND add another ankle-biter. Rooting for you.
I’ll take it. Maybe some fireballs or shrooms would help.
Oh I am so proud of you. And happy for you. And Caroline, obvs. She looks stunning by the way–something I’m sure you share with her often. It’s going to be one hell of a toast when we finally find some scotch.
I’m so there. Hopefully we’ll be toasting *ahem* two kinds of victories…
Congreats to you! Lots of excitement going on. I look forward to updates!
Thanks, Bets. I actually work really close to your office now. We should grab lunch soon.
I’d love that! Shoot me an email when you get chance from your busy schedule at betsym at threadless dot com and we can pick a day.
Done.
Love so much about this post, Caleb.
Congrats on your new baby. Can’t wait to see pics.
Good luck with the new position. Growth is always good. Sounds like an exciting challenge!
And love the referencing to leveling up.
Life only gets better from here!
Thanks, Jyl! Appreciate it.
