It’s Labor Day, and that means summer is officially ending. And what a great one it has been.
Unlike last summer, when Miles was so young he was barely moving on his own, this summer has been filled with all kinds of activities. Family bike rides, trips to the beach, the pool, the playground – Miles has loved it.
And we’ve loved seeing him grow up before our eyes. Literally. At the start of the summer, he could barely walk. Now he’s chasing us around the apartment and taking entire flights of stairs by himself. It’s crazy what a few months can do at this age.
In honor of Miles’ first real summer, and in honor of the great single parent experiment coming to an end later today, I put together this highlights reel from some of my favorite summer moments with him. Enjoy.
PS, The background music is “Beach Baby” by Bon Iver. Seemed appropriate.
PPS, I think this pushed me over the edge to get the new iPhone. I’m craving that HD camera. Our little Flip has worked thus far, but I want to capture some crisper memories.

My dear, that was really gorgeous. He absolutely lights up everything doesn’t he?
You have no idea.
Very nice, Caleb. By the way, in good sunlight, the iPhone 4 takes amazing photos/video. You’ll definitely love it.
So I’ve heard/seen. Definitely craving one now. So yours is working out well?
Isn’t it amazing how fast they grow!? My youngest just turned 1 last week and his “older” sister is 28 months so I know all about those “changes”. Great beach shot by the way…very cool.
Oh the iPhone? Stop what you’re doing right now and go buy it. I was one of those freaks that stood in line for 8 hours…Yeah, I know…The phone is incredible..Well, maybe not so much the actual “phone” but look at it as an added feature instead. As for the camera? It’s so awesome! The HD video is great too! In fact, a lot of my pictures on my blog and ALL of the video is shot with the iPhone 4. Thanks to this weeks update the phone shoots in HDR as well.
Great Blog, I’ll be back!
Thanks for the iPhone advice. Most of the people I’ve talked to range from happy with it, to very happy with it. So I think it’s just a matter of time.
If you’ve got a 28 month-old you must know what I’m in for in the near future. Any red flags?
Great recap of a summer. I’ve got to do that same thing still with our little guy. Have hundreds of hours of footage to comb.
And, I’m a Droid guy, so I’m not much help on the new iPhone. But everyone in my office loves it.
